2001: A Space Odyssey

Graphic Design, Animation, Typography
In the past, title sequences were used to introduce the audience to a film's lead producers and cast while conveying the tone and atmosphere of the film. In this animated opening of Kubrik's "2001: A Space Odyssey" I recalled themes and visual elements to capture the feel of the film and hint at major plot points.

The original version of the animation created with Adobe Illustrator and After Effects.

Particle generators were used in the background to create the parallax effect and endless stars.

The black monolith is a key concept in the title reveal, hinting at it’s importance in the film.

In this version, chromatic aberration and other distortion filters were used to achieve an “old VHS” look appropriate for the erra.
